What are the group of keys on the computer keyboard called all the way to the right?
The group of number keys? I just got a new computer at work & now my enter key all the way to the right doesn’t work, but I don’t even know what to call it to look for help. The Num Lock is on & the number keys work fine, just the enter doesn’t work!!
That area is call the “10 key” or “keypad”.
It is designed to emulate an old fashion calculator or adding machine. Many of the first users of PCs where accountants and data entry personnel who needed to quickly enter lots of numbers. The traditional keyboard with numbers across the top was completely useless for this task.
If you go back to high schools before the 90s, many offered separate courses for typing and for 10 keys or key entry.
